Taking into account my research

Previous research showed me that a director tends to write more than one idea in a treatment so I have decided to write another treatment for a different song that will contain a few ideas for the song. This pitch and treatment will be for the song 'Neopolitan Dreams' by Lisa Mitchell.

The Pitch
I am an A Level student and for my coursework I plan on creating a music video for the song 'Neopliton' by Lisa Mitchell. I have a few ideas but all of them revolve around one girl who would be playing the singer and a story that goes well with the song. I think that all the ideas I envision for this music video as will complement the song greatly. I also think that my audience will like it as I have found from my research that most people enjoy it when there is a story being told that encompasses the song.

The Treatment
A tall slim woman wakes up and get out of bed, it zooms out and pans so you see her walking to the bathroom door, extreme close up of her feet padding on the floor. She goes in the door closes and she comes out all dressed and carrying some post-it notes. She places the post it note above a mans head. The camera then cuts to her singing while she is sitting in a tree swinging her legs. When it cuts back to the man we see him wake up and follow all these post-it notes. They lead from the bed to the bath room, where there is a shot of his clothes layed out, then he is dressed and comes back out and it leads to the hallway and one on a jacket says 'wear me' then they continue out the front door and along the street. It cuts back to the girl walking and singing while going down some streets. It cuts back to the man who is lead to a building. He goes in and is lead up some stairs into a room where the woman is, she is standing by a paper stand and he sits. For the lyrics 'i like the way that you walk' and so on, she points to stick figure drawings that are on the paper stand. When it gets to 'I don't think that your ever 100% in the room' bit the camera will focus on him then pan to the window, and he will be outside the window doing something and the camera will smoothly cut to him outside.
OR
A girl is following a trail left by a boy. It will start with split screen of a girl walking up the path while the boy is putting paper sail boats in the water. It will then change so that the so that the main screen is the girl walking down the river, picking up the sail boats. She will then go under a bridge then walk up to see a balloon with a direction arrow on it tied to a tree. It will then cut to her house where she is sitting crossed legged going through a scrap book. Then it cuts to her biking down a road and to a tree. There will then be lots of cuts between her splashing in the river and climbing up the tree and biking down the road and what not. Then it will cut back to her biking and getting to the tree. The split screen comes back and we see the boy walking towards the tree as well holding a giant flower. She looks around and then appears upset and sits by the tree with her head in her hands (giving the idea that she has closed her sense off to the world around her). When he gets to the girl the split screen goes away as he is handing a flower to her. She gets up and the camera fades out as they are about to kiss/as they hug.
OR
The camera is extremely close up to a carnival cotton candy stand, it slowly zooms out and a girl skips/runs infront of the screen laughing in a dress. The camera follows her as she heads towards a ferris wheel, she gets on the the camera watchs as it goes up. Then it cuts to the ferris wheel seat and the girl is singing to the words. The camera then cuts so it is a point of view shot looking at the ground where a couple is. She watches them hold hands and kiss and then the boy wins the girl a giant teddy bear. It cuts back to her alone on the ferris wheel seat and she looks sad. Then he is magically besides her and the ferris wheel ride ends and they skip off together.
OR
There are a lot of girls in really pretty vintage dresses and boys in suits and they are all playing a game of hide and seek in the city.

  2. Re you comment on The spider.....your textual analysis of the two music vids is not hugely detailed - I'd want more analysis of the way in which mise-en-scene is constructed, how it communicates meaning in terms of the song/band's image/brand - you can then pick this up when you post your own vid and offer a critique of it yourself, alongside the feedback of others. You've posted quite a few vidoes to illustrate one of your points - one or two would be better....it looks a bit like padding...you don't have to document every bit of research - but if you visit a really useful website make a link on your blog - I can use it in future years and share with other students...
